Impact and sustainability.

IICTP has no results to report yet, and this page does not invent any. It says what we intend to measure and why energy use belongs in engineering practice.

Why it matters

Computing uses real energy.

The International Energy Agency estimated that data centres used about 1.5% of the world’s electricity in 2024 (IEA, Energy and AI, 2025), and expects the share to grow. Efficient software is part of competent practice.

In the standard

Where it appears in the credentials.

The Clean Software Telemetry Practitioner credential (CSTP®) covers carbon-aware and energy-efficient engineering. Any wider requirement will be published in the TPBOK™ Guide before it applies.

What we will report

Measures we plan to publish.

01

Access

If IICTP offers fee support, how many people received it, and on what criteria. No figure is claimed today.

02

Registry reach

How many credentials are active and in which regions, once there are any.

03

Our own footprint

How we host and run the site, and how we reduce its energy use.
